Corrode is the second installment in the Surface Rust series, it is a story of second chances, messy complications, the strength to survive and loving someone above all else no matter the cost. This story is beautiful and heart-wrenching, it will make you cry and fall in love. It is compelling in it own right and speaks to the talent of the author.
Felix and Maggie, these two really did make me cry. I think it is because I identified with certain parts of their relationship. The struggles to survive and keep going, to keep swimming to the surface even though the depth seems never ending. The sacrifices you make for the one you love and sometimes the stupid decisions that carry consequences and hurt those you love. Their love seemed endless, unbreakable, but sometimes you must make the ultimate sacrifice and walk away to try and make your point.
Maggie made the ultimate sacrifice, she walked away, knowing what could happen if Felix continued on his path and did not want to watch him risk everything. Felix panicked! He knew what was at risk and yet he decided to follow through on his plan, to make some money fast. Felix paid the ultimate price.
Now he is filled with anger and it is all directed at Maggie. He has no idea why she has stayed away for the last 2 years or why she has kept his infant son from him, all he feels is anger and that she has done it out of spite and revenge, which couldn't be further from the truth.
Can the love they once shared bring them together again, or is the hurt and pain suffered to great an obstacle to surmount? This is a total must read!
