If it wasn’t for bad luck, I wouldn’t have any luck at all.
That saying is as old as the hills in Tennessee, where I used to live.
And it’s definitely true.
I’m a bad luck magnet, at least when it comes to men.
Moving to Stone Lake was supposed to be a fresh start.
Here, I was going to build a life I could be proud of. Finally put down roots and live quietly.
Be safe and happy.
It didn’t quite work out that way, but I’m stubborn and I’m not about to give up.
Ben Kingston was the first man to handle me with care.
He gave me a glimpse of something I desperately wanted.
And then, tore it away from me with the carelessness of one whispered word.
I don’t need a man to complete me.
In fact, I’ve had enough of them.
I’m okay with being single the rest of my life.
I’ll be just fine with my handy friend B.O.B.
Except Ben keeps coming around, tempting me and a girl can only take so much.
Ben’s out to prove I can trust him. I don’t trust any man, not anymore.
But my resolve weakens when he touches me, slides his hand down and proves buying stock in batteries might not be a good life plan.
Welcome back to the world of Stone Lake.
Junie and Ben have a bumpy start for sure, but when trouble comes knocking on Junie’s door, will she let Sheriff Kingston prove he won’t let her down again?
Complete Standalone Romance
You Can't Resista Dirty Book Review
The Sexy Sheriff and Sassy Bartender are back and this time they will break your heart and totally mess with your head!!! Can I just start by saying that everyone needs a man like Sheriff Ben Kingston. He is Loyal, kind, incredibly sexy (cue sweaty palms) and with a dirty mouth that you just want to smack your lips on and never come up for air!!
Insecurities run amuck with these two. Ben is still licking wounds from his last tangle with a woman and the feeling of always coming second to those he loves.
Junie is running from a dark past and a more recent run in with a psycho hell bent on destruction and unfortunately Junie got caught in the cross fire. The emotional scars run deep and have got their claws embedded in these two. They both need to do a lot of soul searching. There just never seems to be a right time for these two to get together.
We pick up one year after the prequel (Where We Began), and Junie is still harbouring sour grapes with Ben because of his faux pas. The cold shoulder is not going to keep the good Sheriff at bay for long. Ben is determined to win back the feisty blondes affection, but this is proving more difficult than he thought.
Trouble is brewing. Junie finds herself with a problem. Someone is determined to ruin the good life that she has worked so hard to build for herself. Ben wants to help, but when Junie keeps shutting him out at what point do you go enough is enough. Ben maybe strong but he is not made from stone. He bleeds and it is all for Junie.
This couple, I swear I was ready to knock some heads together if they didn’t pull their fingers out and get themselves sorted. You could see the love and pain, feel how they were destroying each other, but that is what broken souls tend to do. Always questioning and doubting. How can something so good possibly be for me?
Super sexy, super romantic, tremendous addition to the series!!
“That was a mistake,” I tell him. “I’m just not ready to have a man in my life,” I sternly express to him, and I have to wonder if he can hear the panic edged at the back of my voice.
“You’re a woman who screams sex, Junie. Do you really think you can go through life without enjoying that in your life?”
“I scream sex?” I repeat, feeling like I just swallowed my tongue.
“Oh, yeah, more than anyone I have ever met.”
“You’re wrong,” I deny.
“It’s been a year, Junie, but I haven’t forgotten a moment of our time together.”
“That was a lifetime ago. I’m a different person now. I have a new life plan.”
“A life plan?”
“Yeah. I just decided on it tonight,” I tell him and that’s not a lie. I decided on it right this minute, and I’m going to stick to it.
“What is this life plan, Junie?” he asks, and his dark eyes hold a humor in them that I shouldn’t like, but I do—even if they are freaking me out.
“I’m buying stock in batteries.”
“Batteries?”
“Definitely. The only man I can handle in my life is Bob.”
“Bob.” For a minute he looks confused and then he starts laughing. His laughter warms me, chasing away the last remnants of the fear I felt earlier.
“Oh, Junie. You’re in trouble now.”
“I am?”
“Definitely,” he says, but he gets up and starts walking to the door. I follow him like I’m in a trance.
“Why am I in trouble, Sheriff?”
“Because I always did like a challenge, and now, I’m going to feel compelled to remind you that your vibrator can’t compare to what I can do to your body.” He opens the door and casts me one last glance. “Make sure you lock this door, Baby. I’ll see you tomorrow.”

Where We Began
There are moments in life when a good thing comes along at the wrong time.
Juniper Sellers definitely fits that description.
I’m not ready for her, but damn do I want her.
She’s a beautiful bird with a broken wing and that spells nothing but trouble.
I’m not strong enough to walk away. I should, because I’m as broken as her.
She’s fire and sass.
I’m a moth drawn to her flame.
It’s a toss up which one of us will get burned first.
This novella is a prequel story to Before We Fall. No prior books needs to be read to understand this story.
